Maybe I'm using a wrong name but... I successfully set up set-up GNOME to use truetype fonts and it works fine but GNOME's too bloated for me.

Fluxbox... applications see the truetype fonts but how do I make them smooth? Specifically Firebird and few others display menus using standard console font(Courier?) Fluxbox menus are somewhat fuzzy eventhough anti-aliasing is selected.
Any pointers? If req I'll post my config files.

I'll appreciate any help.

When in Fluxbox,

[Right Click] -> "Settings" -> "Configure" -> "Antialias"

worked for me.

Mozilla has it's own font settings. Search the forum, you will find loads of info about this.

I did. Tried setting that in user.js(which doesn't appear to exist by default) so I manually created it - no go and when I try to edit the settings using about:config it doesn't save.

which font are you using in fluxbox ? ( look in the style )

sometimes its problems with the fonts, if you use something else, they work.

take alook at this snapshot of my desktop ( fluxbox )
1600x1200

the font for the menus and window title is "sans"

I am using that font.
I think I made some progress... Webpages appear in truetype fonts but the menus still use courier-like font.

Any pointers on that?

Yeah, mozilla menus... damn! Atleast I'm not the only one.
What font does your setup display in mozilla menus?

Did you enable the truetype USE flag when you emerged xfree? Did you compile mozilla with gtk2?
Post your

I'd be happy if I could get even that in Mozilla

Mozilla was compiled with gtk2.
Xfree, most likely, was NOT compiled with truetype flag.

Could that be an issue?

according to the outputs of etcat, and wise ircers from #gentoo, it does affect antialiasing.

It was compiled with truetype. Anyway, other fonts work fine except for the webpage fonts, those look fugly as hell. Tiny, unreadable etc.
Any suggestions? Also, I'm thinking about unselecting "let websites use their fonts" or whatever it says and setting default fonts for all of them.. but.. can't pick any that look decent on most of the pages. Any suggestions with this?
