Hi there. I am new at using Gentoo. Went from Fedora with KDE.

I followed installation guides. Set up the system, KDE, SDDM.
But it's not working like I expected. I was trying to figure out, what the problem, maybe there is something in configs, logs, but I didn't found any.

The problem is when I start computer, after init system I got simple tty with terminal, SDDM not starting untill I type any 6 chats (i.e. my user is `vrabeshko` and I type `vrabe` and after I type `h` SDDM appears). Or for example switching to tty2 or 3.

I was trying to find something about this on internet, but without any luck.

Could you help me, where to look, pls?

vrabeshko welcome to gentoo forum!

You are sure that problem isn't only that sddm is slow to starting and therefore not related to typing?
I had similar problem and I fix installing and activating sys-apps/haveged package (see https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=236696)

EDIT: if not your case post your /var/log/sddm.log with wgetpaste

I wonder if this is the infamous entropy problem with SDDM: https://github.com/sddm/sddm/issues/1075

You could try merging haveged to see if it improves things. I think the ebuild adds the service to the boot runlevel, but, if not, you can add it manually.

EDIT: fedeliallalinea beat me to it!
