Seems like sound with ALSA no longer works in the seamonkey-bin-2.49.1_rc2 build, either seamonkey or seamonkey-bin. 2.48 is fine.
I think there may be a flag to enable ALSA missing in the build - ac_add_options --enable-alsa. Or maybe some other problem. 2.49.4 has been released, but I don't see an ebuild for it yet. Hopefully that fixes it. |

I have Seamonkey 2.49.9.1 and have video, but no sound, on youtube. Seamonkey is compiled with the pulseaudio USE flag (just in case I decide to play with it), pulseaudio is also merged - but not running. My guess is that pulseaudio is needed on 2.49.x (contrary to other claims, at least for for x>=9) - unless this was the result of enabling the pulseaudio USE flag...very frustrating.
I have never had such a hard time configuring sound in Linux in the past 25 years... |
