When installing various gnome packages I get the following error.

/usr/bin/gconftool-2: relocation error: /usr/lib/libORBit-2.so.0: symbol __pthread_initialize, version GLIBC_2.0 not defined in file libpthread.so.0 with link time reference

I've tried recompiling all sorts of things on my system, including glibc and gcc. However nothing I have done so far has been able to resolve it.
I'd appreciate any help or suggestions.

| What version of binutils are you using? You might try to re-emerge gnome-base/ORBit2... |
