|
|
Hi!
i have an NVidia Quadro FX 4500 and i am trying to do a fresh install of Gentoo on the machine. Unfortunately, that card requires the "ancient" nvidia-driver version 304.125. Which is really out of portage by a long time.
I managed to create a local overlay with the ebuild for 304.125, but then of course the issues started.
That ancient drivers requires Xorg Server < 1.17.99, but this in turn pulls in more and more older stuff... I managed to fix a few, but i lost it at mesa, since the version supported by 1.17.2 is not available easily. But i guess this is only the tip of the iceberg anyway.
Do anybody has suggestions or know a way to easily install these ancient nvidia drivers? _________________ Willy Gardiol

The problem is that you should find, if exists, patches to make it work this driver version with xorg-server-1.20.3 and probably also with newer kernels _________________ Questions are guaranteed in life; Answers aren't. |

The 304 driver supports xorg-server-1.19.x so you don't need to go back that far. Using a 4.4 kernel, this requires minimal patching. |
