X whats next?

hey ppl if i have grub properly installed and i take the live cd out and restarts .. what should i c?

i c a login line where when in login i get file and directory not found... what should i do?

plus i did emerg xfree and configured the xf86config file and all.. but now when i run startx i get command not found.. what should i do? i have an another huge msg poasted in installing gentoo forum under the title.. "Problem with Xfree?" help me if u could or just respond to the questions in this post...

well ok, can you log in to a terminal?

then type something like cd /, ls

and see if you see yoru directories

if grub is properly installed you should boot up, and see an option saying gentoo and it will have a countdown and you can hit enter or a few other options

also the command startx isnt in your $PATH , this is most likelydue to your not being logged in or whatever the combination of problems your haivng

also if your logged in and still cant see anything, type source /etc/profile

hey thx a bunch.. i finally got it working although i had to reinstall it from scratch and i used lilo instead of grub this time.. i just have a couple of questions:

once i restart without the live cd i get this:
