Hi, I just installed gnome© All is pretty good ¥in fact I like it better than KDE¤© One problem© Sound does not work© In KDE it works fine© In gnome it comes up with an error, and tells me to check I have the correct line plugged in, or if some other program is not preventing sound to work© What might this be© Is there something I have to do in Gnome that I don't have to do in KDE??

I don't know well Kde but I think I remember that a special lib(module) called aRTS or something, does care about sound in KDE.
In GNOME there is a sound server which access your sound device like any other apps.
check if /dev/dsp have the correct permissions for the user with which U launch GNOME?
Please give a little more infos eg : some logs or complete error messages? |

all is o©k© now it seems© When I initially tried sound, and it didn't work, I stuffed around with a few settings before posting here© Anyway, I went to bed, logged out, and when I woke up, and logged back in, sound was now working© Obvisously something needed to be restarted after setting it, to get it to work©
Thanks for the reply©
