|
|
Hi,
This one's a bit on the odd-side:
Using gentoo-kernel 2.4.20r7, a VIA-chipset mobo, Audigy 1 soundcard and
two optical drives - a Lite-on CD-RW and a Pioneer 103.
Whenever I insert a CD into the RW drive, I get a really annoying
noise from my soundcard - sounds like the kinda noise you hear
on a bad phone line (like strong wind blowing)
So far I've tried reconfiguring/compiling the kernel but, ofcourse,
to no avail.
Any ideas/pointers would be highly appreciated.
Many TIA,
filipp |

Try lowering the volume on ALL channels that you got and then reinsert a CD into your drive.
There is a small motor that opens and closes the door of your CD-RW. If it is a DC motor then it could be generating a lot of "noise" when running that could be picked up by an open channel on your soundcard and amplified through your speakers. _________________ Punk is an attitude

That's it! It was actually turning down all the input levels in aumix that made the noise disappear!
Many thanks. |
