As anyone experienced this issue?; genkernel fails to build kernel with initramfs. The log shows
Code: |
genkernel --lvm --microcode --install initramfs

You can post also /var/log/genkernel.log with wgetpaste? _________________ Questions are guaranteed in life; Answers aren't. |

Where's genkernel's TMPDIR located on? Error is Quote: | * ERROR: configure is not executable | But when you view used util-linux' tarball, it contains an executable configure script. So something weird happens on your system during unpack...
Your "emerge --info" says you are using hardened. Make sure executable files are allowed and nothing gets stripped or set TMPDIR to location where executables are allowed. _________________ Regards,

I place Portage TMPDIR on tmpfs. Here's my /etc/fstab
I remount /boot and /usr as rw before attemtping a kernel upgrade.
Code: |
LABEL=efi /efi vfat umask=0077,noatime 0 2
LABEL=boot /boot ext2 noauto,noatime,ro 0 2
LABEL=rootfs / ext4 errors=remount-ro,noatime 0 1
LABEL=usr /usr ext4 nodev,noatime,ro 0 2
LABEL=home /home ext4 nodev,noatime,nosuid 0 2
LABEL=var /var ext4 nodev,noatime,nosuid,noexec 0 2
LABEL=usr-local /usr/local ext4 nodev,noatime,ro,nosuid 0 2
LABEL=opt /opt ext4 nodev,noatime,ro,nosuid 0 2
LABEL=var-tmp /var/tmp ext4 rw,nosuid,noatime,nodev,noexec 0 2
LABEL=swap00 none swap sw 0 0
tmpfs /tmp tmpfs rw,nosuid,noatime,nodev,noexec,size=2G,mode=1777 0 0
tmpfs /var/tmp/portage tmpfs rw,nosuid,noatime,nodev,uid=portage,gid=portage,size=16G,mode=775 0 0

You have Code: |
LABEL=var-tmp /var/tmp ext4 rw,nosuid,noatime,nodev,noexec 0 2
^^^^^^^^ ^^^^^^
| Guess where's your genkernel tmpdir is located _________________ Regards,

Ah thank you very much. That's resolved the blocker.
That's the frist time that noexec on /var/tmp has being an issue for my kernel upgrade or anything else. |

Strangely I've always called
Code: |
genkernel --lvm --microcode --install initramfs
|
I thought the problem may have something to do with the "Genkernel 4 changed default filenames" 2019-12-30-genkernel-4-default-filenames update. |
