Any idea what the following means? I ran qpkg -f like it said but I don't see that it did anything and this message persists.
Polgara root # emerge --update --system
Calculating system dependencies ...done!
>>> emerge (1 of 1) sys-devel/gcc-3.2.3-r3 to /

* this sys-libs/glibc has __guard object and __stack_smash_handler functions
* scanning the system for binaries with __guard - this may take 5-10 minutes
* please do not press crtl-C or crtl-Z during this period - it will continue
* found binaries that are dynamically linked to the libgcc with __guard@@GCC
* you need to compile these binaries without CFLAGS -fstack-protector/hcc -r
* when such binaries are found, gcc cannot remove libgcc propolice functions
* leading to gcc -static -fstack-protector breaking, see gentoo bug id 25299
* you can run 'qpkg -f' from the gentoolkit package and reemerge the program
* to do a full scan on your system, enter this following command in a shell:
* find / -type f -perm -1 -maxdepth 9 -exec echo -n '__guard at GCC check in: {} ' \; -exec qpkg -f {} \; -exec readelf -s {} \; 2>&1 | grep __guard | grep -B1 '__guard\@GCC'

Thanks, I'm reading that link, but in my make.conf, my flags are already set without the mentioned flags. Any ideas why I'm getting the error?
It is finding files that were somehow compiled with those flags apparently. _________________ Help me!!! |

I'm afraid you'll have to folow the procedure mentioned in the topic above anyway. I even had to recompile some packages twice before I got rid of the error (?).
But, after 13 hours of recomping, the problem is fixed.
And there was much rejoicing...... |
