Hi ..
I have an itanium2 machine (hp rx2600). I'm trying to install gentoo on it .. all went fine using the experimental tarball (chroot, extract, update system).
Now I'm trying to compile the kernel (ia64-sources). Any help is appreciated:
- What command to use? make bzImage didn't work.
- Is there anything special I should do (or not do) when compiling a kernel for this arch?
- If anyone has a workable config file for the kernel, please post it, it'll really help alot.
Thanks, |

I cannot start the machine, so I cannot show you the config, and I don't remember smth particular even if I'm sure there are specific options... Look at all one by one
For the kernel, try 'make vmlinuz' (make help gives a full list of relevant options), or 'make vmlinux' and 'gzip vmlinux > vmlinuz'.
The hard part won't be system install, but what follows because many many packages are cached for ia64. I didn't myself dare to tweak the ebuilds or add ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="~ia64" in make.conf.
I think I will have another look at the machine soon, then I will be able to send you my config if still needed.
Good luck |
