|
|
hello.
My locale settings got broken or something...
What i did was this:
I booted up the computer.
everything worked fine.
I installed net-dns/bind-tools
and i ran some checks with dig +short bla bla bla....
then i shut down the computer, went to the city and came back.
Then i turned on the computer, it asked me if i'd like to change the default folder names from spanish to english. I selected no.
gnome-terminal is no more running.
From the console if i run
Code: | DISPLAY=":0.0" gnome-terminal |
it says
locale not supported by C library.
Using the fallback 'c' locale.
i tried running locale-gen and it didn't help.
I have these settings:
/etc/env.d/02locale
Code: | LANG="es_PE.utf8"
LC_MONETARY="fi_FI"
LC_TIME="es_ES" |
/etc/locale.gen
Code: | en_US ISO-8859-1
en_US.UTF-8 UTF-8
es_PE ISO-8859-1
es_PE.UTF-8 UTF-8
es_ES ISO-8859-1
es_ES.UTF-8 UTF-8
fi_FI ISO-8859-1
fi_FI.UTF-8 UTF-8 |

It doesn't go anymore. It just opens the mouse cursor

The problem is probably NOT related to locale settings.
It seems that something is wrong with your Gnome environment. Did you update or install any Gnome packages during the last 2 weeks? (look at /var/log/emerge.log or at the ouput of 'qlop -m')
The ouput of 'emerge --info' looks good. You switched to unstable/testing. Don't be surprised that things break occasionally. |

now from icewm i tried to run
Code: | emerge --ask --verbose media-gfx/luminance-hdr |
There were 18 packages to be compiled. when it was compiling number 17 i hit Ctrl+C because i had to move the computer to another location and i have a bad battery.
I shut down the computer and at the other location the computer worked fine again. Gnome 3 started normally at the boot.
Strange.
Edit:
Any ideas on what might have caused this?? |
