So I admit it, I'm struggling. I cannot figure out what s the right serial console device and setting should be? When I boot the install CD, the console is on /dev/hvc0 and is configured:

speed 38400 baud; line = 0;
discard = ^U;
-brkint ixoff -imaxbel
-iexten
root@livecd ~ #

But when I boot with this configuration on the kernel command line, the kernel just stops sending output at one point. Not sure what's going on with that. Looking for guidance on what the right kernel configuration is (both for the kernel build and the kernel command line). |

| The kernel I built lacked the IBM HVC driver configured. Rebuilding now. |
