Hi everyone,
So, I have a question that's been bothering me for awhile. Most of the printers that I deal with are networked jetdirect printers and the way to communicate with them is directly through their IP address - i.e., no print servers. On a windows computer, once you get beyond the initial quirk of jetdirect printers being "local" instead of network, you can easily set them up.
My question is, how does one go about setting up such a printer on a linux computer? most of the guides that I have seen either refer to red-hat specific tools or give me some indecipherable instructions as to how to go about creating a print server, but all i want to do is print to 192.168.1.5, an hp laserjet 5m. what do i do
thanks |

1) emerge cups
2) /etc/init.d/cupsd start
3) point your browser to http://locahost:631
4) add a printer
5) Select IP Printing(Not worded like that)
6) Put in your values
7) Click add
Now print
oh and you might want to do and rc-update add cupsd default
Hope this helps,
