FIXED: This problem was fixed by doing an emerge -u system
I've just performed a fresh install of gentoo on a computer following the install instructions. Some computer details:
- Two 1000 and one 10/100 LAN ports
( Intel® 82546EB dual-channel GbE controller
- Two RJ-45 LAN connectors with LEDs
- Connected to PCI-X bus
Intel® 82551QM Fast Ethernet controller
- One RJ-45 LAN connector with LEDs)
- AIC 7902W SCSI controller
When compiling the kernel I enabled support for AIC79XX. after compile I emerged e100 and e1000. After my first reboot I get the following error messages repeatedly spat out:
insmod: /lib/modules/2.4.23_pre8-gss/kernel/drivers/net/e100.o: insmod e100 failed
insmod: /lib/modules/2.4.23_pre8-gss/kernel/drivers/scsi/aic7xxx/aic7xxx.o: init_module no such device
What could be causing this problem/message?
P.S. Networking and the scsi hard disk both work so why would it be displaying errors?
