Hello fine folks.

For some reason I haven't understood, my suspend suddenly stopped working. My Grub and Kernel Config hasn't been changed in months, same as for my hardware, so I believe I can rule that out somewhat.
However, since about a week, when I close my laptop or manually suspend it, it boots fresh on opening/waking up instead of just resuming.

A journalctl log from suspending http://dpaste.com/2NMT5TM and the corresponding wakeup http://dpaste.com/3AGNTMF

I am happy to provide anything else, that might help. This issue is rather distracting.

Thanks for your help.

Do you use KDE Plasma? I'm not sure, but you can try installing kde-plasma/powerdevil and making sure the upower USE flag is enabled globally.

Hi fturco,

thanks for the suggestion. I use Plasma but powerdevil was installed and I didn't fiddle with the use flag. I ended up just remerging the system. Probably some rebuild got lost. Now it works again.

OK, scratch that, it works sometimes but most times it still fails. I am at a loss. Any other ideas?

Everything is uptodate, remerged, revdep-rebuilt, depcleaned, kernel config untouched from when it was working, I have now tried a newer kernel, I tried an old one. I am not sure what else to try.

Try running systemctl suspend from the console, outside of KDE Plasma.

You can also try suspending your system from KDE Plasma after having removed all KDE configuration files in your home directory (after making a backup, of course).

I tried that with the same result.
I also shutdown X completely and used s2ram and it still didn't work.
This most definitely isn't a kde issue.

Do you mean that you have not installed new kernels in all this time (and are therefore behind on kernel patches) or do you mean you have not changed the configuration options of the kernel as you proceeded to install newer versions?

I have been running a 5.1 kernel for many months now to keep stable. Every now and then I would rebuild it because a minor change was necessary or the toolchain change.
However it suddenly stoppe d working without any obvious reason. After that happened I tried it out with 5.3.12 to see if it goes away but unsurprisingly it didn't

To be clear: neither config nor kernel version changed before this occured. I only started fiddling with that afterwards.
