CLOSED/ SOULUTION FOUND
(see the bottom)

Installing Pentoo on a thinkpad X230 brings me this error „EIP: panic+0x1bc/0x1fe....[at the bottom: "---[ end trace 0e8640...]---"]“ (I have a picture but don't know how to add a foto at the posting) after the „Pentoo Defaults(verify)“ (the same happens without „verifiy“. I tried several USB-Sticks, the iso file (pentoo-full-x86-hardened-2019.1.iso) was verified manually by sha512sum.
Any ideas how to install pentoo correctly?

Moved from Installing Gentoo to Unsupported Software. Pentoo is not Gentoo, so it fits better here.

question1,

Welcome to Gentoo.

Put your photo on a free photo hosting site and post a link to it here.
The top of the panic text is usually useful as its a human readable message saying what went wrong.

question1,

The text we need has scrolled off the screen.

It may be something like VFS Failed to Mount rootfs. Unknown-block(X,Y) where X and Y are numbers.
The numbers tell a great deal.

Does this happen trying to boot the install media or with booting your install once the install is complete.

Pentoo has a support channel on irc.freenode.net. Try #pentoo

happens when booting the install-usb-stick, the fancy blue pentoo backroundwith the three options (verifiy, without verify, advanced) appears; the first two option end with the posted screen, and the thierd is like a one way lane without proceeding.
I'll post pictures of the upper error text soon.
thanks for the idea with the irc.

question1,

It sounds like the Pentoo kernel is missing support for your hardware.
As you are using a USB stick try it in different USB ports.

It's sad: I can't scroll the freezed text,
not with the mouse, not with arrow up-down or page up-down ...
the error text was now a little bit longer:

I tried with all three USB ports, and another USB Stick ...

>Pentoo kernel is missing support for your hardware
I thought linux runs well on thinkpads(?).

Would it be an idea to run the Pentoo-Iso in a virtual machine in Ubuntu?

In the second picture there was more information:
https://ibb.co/F3DdXKp

"CODE Bad RIP value..
Kernel panic – not syncing…
kernel offset..."

Anybody knows if this error log is helpful to find a solution?

"Modules Linekd In: Cr:" followed by a string of zeros looks like a null pointer.
can you try the stick on a regular PC just to see if it crashes there?

question1,

The key line is
Code:
Kernel panic - not syncing: Attempted to kill init!

init is the process that starts everything else. When it stops, so does everything else.

Linux does run well on thinkpads. You are asking about Pentoo, which is a Gentoo derivative on the Gentoo forums.
Some derivatives diverge further than others from Gentoo.

I've never run Pentoo so I don't know how it works in a virtual machine.

SOLUTION:

SORRY, for wasting your time.
I was reading about x86 and AMD64...
Although I am here on Intel, the AMD works or is built for this too - super strange.
I tried it now with the AMD64 and it ist working.

(well the iso-checksum is OK, but in the install-intern-verifying-process one of 72 checksums is wrong, but I think this is another problem)

Sorry again,
have a nice day!

question1,

There is a history lesson here.

When Intel brought out a 64 bit CPU it was the now dead Itanium. It could not run the existing code base on the CPU but needed an emulator, which made it very slow.
Later, AMD brought out a 64 bit CPU that was backwards compatible with the existing codebase.
Intel licenced the design from AMD, so the 64 bit system we use today are called amd64, even if the CPU was made by Intel.
