|
|
Ok, I have a Gentoo box with two ethernet cards, one is set up to my cable modem, and the other I want to be serving internet to my playstation 2. I have managed to server internet to a windows box without any problems, however, the playstation 2 doesn't always allow me specify gateways or DNS settings. It only asks me if I have a DSL/Cable/Lan internet connection. Some games let me specify the lan settings, others don't. Has anyone gotten this to work?
Is it possible to set up my Linux box so that i don't have to specify any settings on the playstation 2? |

HeadHolio,
It sounds like its expecting to get its network settings from a DHCP server. This is a process that provides an IP address and other info to any box on your lan that asks.
You need to install and configure a DHCP server on the the Ethernet port that connects to the PS/2.
If you are using a crossover cable you could try the ppp option in ifconfig.
See man ifconfig.
