If i try to use alsa in any application I usually get the following error:
ALSA Error: snd_pcm_hw_params(alsa_pcm, hw_params) Invalid argument
Error opening a sound device.
this error specifically is from mednafen, but i always get the snd_pcmhw_params from other programs, pulseaudio works fine.

Please post the content of /proc/asound/devices
What sound output are you trying to use HDMI, analogue ...
All these modules look a bit scary.
Please post your too.

audio is not connected via PCI, it's connected via acpi |

Alsa works a few minutes after the os boots, but thr sound is too fast and squeaky |

Coming from Ubuntu forum.
In the sound settings of mednaffe(GUI version) add this string instead of "default" : "sexyal-literal-default"
From Forum:
"ALSA NOTE: When using the alsa driver, the "default" translates to "hw", not "default", before being sent to the ALSA API. This is necessary because ALSA's "default" audio device has very poor buffering control capabilities. If you really want to use ALSA's "default" device, use "sexyal-literal-default". |
