Hi,
I have been using a gentoo system for quit sometime on a server computer (4month) without any problems. Now I can't emerge sync or emerge-webrsync, or mirrorselect.
The internet is working perfectly. I have another gentoo system on the network and it is able to emerge sync, etc.
I have a firewall setup and all gentoo systems could emerge perfectly until a couple of days ago.
I don't know if its because I emerged other packags that caused this.
I have 3 computers, all hooked up via network. Only one is having this problem. See below....
1. gentoo kernel 2.4 - this is my internet firewall and gateway.
*using shorewall firewall
* this is the computer that lost the emergeing from the internet.
2. Window XP
3. gentoo dev kernel 2.6 - where I do all my work.
* can emerge with out a problem
does anyone have any ideas what could couse this??? |

it pings eveything.
what I did notice now - is that I do get emerge sync when I take the firewall down.
So it must be something with the firewall. However, the strange thing is, that my other gentoo box is able to emerge sync with out a problem when the firewall is up.
I'm lost - I haven't changed anything in my firewall (that I can remember in the last couple of weeks). I even opened up the ports for the emerge in my firewall still ... nothing |
