I'm searching for a good X11 window manager for my Raspberry Pi 3 B. I'm running gentoo with arm64 kernel. Happens that they're mostly unsupported.
What window managers are you guys using? And any tips on how to get them working? _________________ In a world without fences and walls, who needs Gates and Windows? |

jpkc,
KDE/Plasma works.
MATE works
Xfce4 works
twm works too but you way not like that.
Those are all keyworded ~arm64 too. You don't even have to build them if you can live with my setup.
If you want KDE, you must disable baloo before you start it. _________________ Regards,

Thanks for the feedback!
This is what I've got on portage's database: https://packages.gentoo.org/categories/x11-wm
Code: | Working: (arm64)
Awesome, BlackBox, cwm, fluxbox
Testing: (~arm64)
OpenBox, dwm, Enlightenment, fvwm, i3, marco, mutter |
Will add KDE/Plasma, MATE, Xfce4 and TWM to the list. Thanks!
Do you use any of them? Are they light? How do they cope with Pi's hardware?
Will try those here! _________________ In a world without fences and walls, who needs Gates and Windows? |

I fvwm works, you can add fvwm-crystal. It is the most advanced fvwm configuration which turn it into an easy to use desktop.
If you use fvwm, I would be very interested to know how fvwm-crystal is working on arm. That because I am the main developer of fvwm-crystal. |
