During an install from stage3 I keep having to unpack the stage3 tarball because all of a sudden after emerging anything env-update, rc-update, and other admin scripts just flat out disappear. Directly after chrooting to my gentoo environment I always do an env-update && source /etc/profile command. What the heck am I doing wrong or how do I circumvent the issue? I never had this issue w/ my other gentoo box...grrr... |

Do you have /usr on a separate partition ?
Maybe it is not getting mounted correctly. |

Nope /usr is on the root partition (/dev/hda3). All partitions are setup as the documentation recommends. |

Ok so I started from scratch (again, for like the 9th time) and got to the part where I'm supposed to install nvidia-kernel. At the end of the emerge it states /usr/sbin/ebuild.sh does not exist. After that no emerge, env-update or any gentoo admin scripts whatsoever. WTF is going on?!?! I wish my patience was infinate but it is not, any clues as to what on earth I could be doing wrong?
Thanks. |
