Hey guys I have beem having a prob for a week now but I mean, I installed Gentoo and all (stage 1 and my own kernel) Ok i setup grub, its a dual boot system gentoo on a slave drive and XP on a master. Now when I pick XP it boots correctly, but when I pick Gentoo it goes through normal boot but after doing checks on hda hdb hdc and hdd it goes in to aloop mode with #'s and letters. Any Idea(s) on what I can do?
My Desktop is a
Sony Vaio
P4
2.4Ghz
512ddr ram
Gforce 4 Ti
So any idea whats wrong? I wipped my whole new system for gentoo and I want it soo bad its not even funny think you guys can help?

It seems your kernel does not match your hardware. Try reconfiguring your kernel by hand and rebuild the kernel. While configuring use the help system and use conservative settings at first. Once you have your system up and running you can always try out different settings. |
