hey everyone,

here is the line for my floppy in fstab

Code:
/dev/fd0                /mnt/floppy              auto           noauto,users       0 0

it keeps telling me that i have to choose an fs type, but i haven't had this happen before. what do i need to do to be able to specify auto?

what is the floppy formatted like? FAT?
did you compile fat support in your kernel?

i guess if the fs type is supported auto should work

Dabooty is right, auto will work for a floppy drive. If it is failing it means the floppy is either not present (or your floppy drive isn't working), unformatted, or formatted with a file system which is not supported in your kernel.

Yup. Just add DOS FAT fs support and MSDOS fs support in your kernel config, recompile, etc. You can make them modules if you want, but if you have FAT partitions on your hard drive which you normally mount you should include it in the kernel itself.
