Was it due to rust getting faster/better, or firefox getting smaller? gcc is definitely slowing down so I won't ask that :D _________________ Intel Core i7 2700K/Radeon R7 250/24GB DDR3/256GB SSD

Maybe used llvm slot 10 though (support was added in firefox-74), that could've gotten faster, not that I've checked (Edit: I don't even bother comparing build times).
I'm still on slot 9 since I'm waiting for non-rc final 10.0.0 to upgrade.
Bit off-topic side-note: mentioned this in another thread but firefox-74 removed the blocker for libvpx <=1.7.0, so can use system-libvpx with recent up-to-date libvpx again.

Code: | -rw-r----- 1 root root 57161202 févr. 27 22:49 firefox-73.0.1-clang-lto-pgo.tbz2
-rw-r----- 1 root root 57297743 mars 11 02:35 firefox-74.0-clang-lto-pgo.tbz2 |
Code: | Mon Feb 17 00:12:29 2020 >>> dev-lang/rust-1.41.0
merge time: 1 hour, 58 minutes and 1 second.
Sat Feb 29 14:51:53 2020 >>> dev-lang/rust-1.41.1
merge time: 2 hours, 47 minutes and 48 seconds. | Same clang.
One possibility remains that would nullify such conclusion: 73 being build on powersave, whereas 74 was surely build on performance.
Thks 4 ur attention, interest & support. |
