Hello
I had for years on my laptop the possibility of switching between wired and wireless networking (managed by wicd and ifpluged and gentoo netifrc scripts).
I recently ran into problems and decided after having realised that wicd will be removed from portage soon to give another method a try.
Meanwhile I have tried dhcpcd with wpa-supplicant or iwd and ended up with networkmanager (so gentoo netifrc scripts are gone). But none works for me for the wireless case.
Might it be related to power management of my Qualcomm Atheros AR9285 Wireless Network Adapter (PCI-Express) (rev 01)?

Thanks for your reply; I will check when I have time.
What I noticed up to now, I can scan now with wpa_supplicant and add connections; however it continuously disconnects..
One question, regarding your mentioned articles:
Do these intend to have either wired or wireless connections? I was used to have a static IP with wicd regardless of wired or wireless. Now with networkmananager I seem to have two connections..
Should I install ifpluged again? |

It is a magic of dhcpcd. It happens when you plug/unplug the network cable.
No need for ifplugd or the likes.

For static IP see https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Dhcpcd#Static_IP_addresses. Regarding networkmananager I have no clue, sorry. |
