i recently purchased a linksys WPC11 ver. 4 card. is there a way to get this working under gentoo? i have just read about people using version 3... |

Yes, but it absolutely sucks. Go here:
http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/downloads1-3.aspx?Keyword=8180
Download the "Linux kernel 2.4.x (gcc version 3.2)." Unzip it somewhere, and edit the Makefile. Change the KERNELRELEASE line to your kernel version (e.g., "2.4.20-gentoo-r8"). Run make to compile the driver. For configuration and usage info, look at the readme file and the sample wlanup and wlandown scripts.
Mess with this driver for a while, and you'll understand why you're better off exchanging it for a v3 (there's a little slip of paper telling you how to do so that comes with the v4 adapters). |
