Grub res problem

i was trying to install gentoo on vmware and successfully did with drivers and all, gfxmode would work well and it would actually boot on 1920x1080 grub, but until i selected the kde profile (it was gentoo 17.1 default stable before) in eselect and starting updating the system, when i rebooted, gfxmode=1920x1080 would no longer work, and grub would start on 640x480 then when i booted into linux after a while it switches into 800x600, i already have vmware drm driver installed, grub just doesnt want to work with gfx for some reason, any solutions?

i already tried remerging grub and remaking the grub.cfg, but it still wont work.
