|
|
It's the fourth day. And still I can't figure the way out. I am new to gentoo and have a intermidiate Linux knowledge.
I m running a i686 cpu. I have done everything according to amd64 handbook. Everything went with no errors but I got stuck at the "installing the base system: updating the world set". I have pasted the image of the error. Also I have pasted another image which might be helpful.

I didn't expect it to get this troublesome cuz I have successfully installed arch Linux and Debian recently on my other pc. I think that the solution is very simple but I can figure it out.
Thanks

Actually I have solved the problem yesterday.
I have done exactly as the given hint on the screen
This is what I have done:
1. I put some lines in /etc/portage/package.use
Firstly it didn't work then I found that I had to place an '=' sign while denoting version of package.
2. I run the 'update world set' command again. It told me again to 'change USE flags' of a package.
3. I added some more lines in /etc/portage/package.use
4. Then I run 'update world set' command again. Again it told me to 'change USE Flags' of some more packages.
5. I edited the /etc/portage/package.use again.
6. Then I run 'update world set' command again and IT WORKED !!
However it took approximately 3 hours to complete 'updating the world set' !!
Thanks HAHA |
