I am getting the exact same errors on my system. Began Gentoo installation Sunday night using the 1.2 x86 image, went to install KDE Monday night, no dice.
Package is arts-1.0.2-r1. Searches didn't find anything too relevant; I played with oggvorbis USE settings as well as manually merging/unmerging the ogg libs.
Hardware is a Celeron 300 on an Abit BH6 with 64M RAM and a 10G IBM disk. World & kernel ompiler optimizations are set for that CPU. |

So I was attemping to capture the errors to a log, and well this time it seems to have worked....strange...
The only difference is I had started an emerge of gnome...I don't like gnome as much but I needed to get some sort of gui going for the project I am working on....anyway....I forgot (I have a nasty cold at the moment is affecting judgement)...in different screen I started the arts emerge again, this time trying to capture the errors to a log, by redirecting the output...when it finsh and I looked in the log I had created the emerge succeded....
My advice if you can emerge arts....emerge gnome first....maybe some lib that arts needs is in the gnome deps, thta isn't in the kde/arts deps.... |

I got it to emerge on my system by adding the following to arts-1.0.2-r1.ebuild:
Code: | src_compile() {
kde_src_compile myconf configure
make
}
