A small note about using a
17a0:0001 Samson Technologies Corp. C01U condenser microphone
As this microphone has 2 cascaded amplifiers but is detected as stereo microphone by fault, the main amp on left channel only must be remapped to mono to get the best performance:

I found some howtos around describing that issue on Linux, pointing me to the solution, but none explaining how to do that with PulseAudio. Some of the howtos have been mapping both channels to mono which I think is not the right way, as the right channel is just a pre-amplified signal.
