Gentobobbyuk,
VMWare provides an emulated SCSI interface.
Code: | 00:10.0 SCSI storage controller: LSI Logic / Symbios Logic 53c1030 PCI-X Fusion-MPT Dual Ultra320 SCSI (rev 01) |
and an emulated IDE controller
Code: | 00:07.1 IDE interface: Intel Corporation 82371AB/EB/MB PIIX4 IDE (rev 01) |
The Fusion-MPT driver is normally off in the kernel.
I dont know about the PIIX4 IDE driver.
It depends where you you told VMWare to attach the drive for the guest.
If its on the SCSI interface, it will need the Fusion-MPT added to the kernel.
If its on the PIIX4 IDE interface, it may work.
In both cases it will be sda, so moving the HDD in the VMWare configuration may be all thats needed. _________________ Regards,

HI guys i have everything pretty much working and just a quick question to save myself sometime.
I have been working on exact same hardware and same system same everything for a few days.
Is there a way to copy this kernel from the working system and compile it on another machine with identical setup.
I keep missing the odd bit out and its getting very frustrating.
Also with the new efi and things where is the kernel actualley being placed still in boot ? or boot efi |

If those machines are identical at the hardware level you don't even need to recompile the kernel. Just copy it from the /boot directory of the first machine, along with modules from the /lib/modules directory, and put them on the second machine in the same corresponding places. |
