Gentobobbyuk,

may I recommend you one additional check:

After booting with a CD or a usb-stick, the first you should always do is to check if /sys/firmware/efi exists.
Code:
# clear
# ls /sys/firmware

Why ? Because, even if you have UEFI in your BIOS enabled, if you have the wrong CD or stick (non-UEFI) the most motherboards boots this CD (or stick) ... BUT NOT in UEFI mode. Later you will have problems with grub.

You have a small typo: sda2 is vfat, not ext2.

your correct i typed that by accident on the doc its setup correct on the machine dam i spent ages but hey one mistakes instead of 400

This I believe you completely.

(some other typos I didnt mention, because I dont wanted to be pedantic, like "rc-update dhcpcd fefault" ... everybody understand it without the "add")

Exactly im asking a problem im dyslexic bro i just tried really hard i made one error and asked a question
U offer me advice then criticizing me for asking why
You seem to get at me ?
Sorry im not as clever as you bro i really do struggle.
I see others struggling i share my progress
I make one typo,
Bro you dont have to follow my post
ive apologized for mistakes i make
Because i ask why something is important it means everything else ive writeen is now iinvaid
im asking a question so i can understand for myself and also inform others.
The fact there is multiple UEFI issues in the installing Gentoo section clearly means people are also struggling .

Try and be a bit more supportive some people are not masters like yourself
i have multiple servers running which i use on a day to day bases
just because myself and many other users have a problem understanding the documentation doesnt mean we are useless

You come across quite intimidating this is a forum where u ask for help.
Sorry i upset you every time i make a mistake god for bid you ever do.
You dont need to be on the post

Yes im a bit thick yes im dyslexic
did i give up no .
did i get it working yes
have i just shared my progess which might help someone else

give it a break brother .

its users like urself that make people not want to ask for support .
take a chill pill i couldnt get a bootloader to work neither can 1000 other people online

Its about supporting and helping others not criticizing me on every post.
im sorry because i dont understand thinks like god like urself i have to come to a forum made to help to ask for help .

end result i figured it out

give it up

I dont understand exactly what you want to tell me (I am not a native english speaker; my school english is very poor) ...
... but I have the "feeling" you mean, that I want to criticize you.
This is not my intention ! I wanted to help you (and others, you want to help).
Therefore I gave a recommendation. Its not more.
I am not more intelligent ... I am only old.
If you ask my WHY I give you the recommendation, I answer you my true thinking: Because you said, you want to help others.
But its late now, I have to go into the bed.
Good night.
