Dunno if this is the answer, but Google found me that the function appears to be part of the kcmp call, and man 2 kcmp contains info about a pre-requisite kernel configuration item.

Glibc does not provide a wrapper for this system call; call it using
syscall(2).
This system call is available only if the kernel was configured with
CONFIG_CHECKPOINT_RESTORE. |

I also dont have this kernel option enabled (and didnt need it the whole time), but its interesting that it would be enabled if you have a systemd-system. From help:

- GENTOO_LINUX_INIT_SYSTEMD [=n] && GENTOO_LINUX [=y] && GENTOO_LINUX_UDEV [=y] |
So, maybe its a program who wants to run on a systemd-system ...  |

I noticed that a little while back, tried enabling it and found it made kernel "make" recompile everything, so I switched it off again. So far as I can tell, its lack has yet to caused any problems.
