Hi, I just bought a tyan motherboard. I'm using 2.4ghz xeon's with it. the RAM I purchased is 333mhz, whereas the xeon's are 533mhz BUS. Does that matter? The mobo manual said PC1600 wouldn't work with a xeon of 533mhz, whereas PC2100 would. Mine is PC2700 I think, but I'm not certain.
I don't want to plug the RAM in and fry all this new hardware.
Thanks |

We just picked up a dual P4 Xeon system. We're using 3.06GHz procs with 533MHz FSB and a Intel SE7501CW2 motherboard. We are using PC2100 or DDR266 memory.
The MB docs said you could also use DDR200. I think that is PC1600. But it may only work with 400MHz FSB processors.
I think these are the only two types of memory you can use. Your motherboard docs should have more details. Pay special attention to the slots you place them in to maximize memory throughput.
Do be careful with the memory you use. Remember that this a server based processor and has more restrictions and requirements than the desktop procs. |
