I have an Asus P4R800-VM motherboard, it has (quoting from the manual here) IPX200 built in 3Com MAC with Realtek 8201BL/CL LAN PHY. I know the PHY doesn't need a driver, but the MAC does.
Looking on ATI's site it mentions that the MAC is an 3c920B-emb-wnm. But I have been unable to get this to be reconized by either 2.4.20 or 2.6.0-test11. I've even tried building every NIC available in to the kernel without any luck. I've tried building them all as modules and trying to manually start them.
At boot I get the normal:
Failed to bring eth0 up
ERROR: Problems starting needed services. "netmount" was not started
Problem. Has anyone had experience getting this card working on this motherboard.
Another note: Windows detected the nic and operated without issue, listing it as an 3c920B-EMB-WNM. |

Which is exactly why I tried the 2.6.0 Kernel. When I look at the at the 3c59x.c file it does list the card in it too. The problem is that it still doesn't work, so I was hoping someone would know of some trick that would work for this specifc motherboard or card.
In the meantime I'll continue to use a PCI card instead of the intergrated nic. |
