make menuconfig and genkernel

If I use the make menuconfig utility and save the options, will genkernel use those saved options to build the kernel and modules?

I know when I use genkernel --config it apears to be the same menu

this was added on later. I tryed saving the changes with make menuconfig, then when I checked using genkernel --config the changes were not saved.

I do belive if you use make menuconfig and then just use genkernel it will not use the settings you saved. I think it uses some defaults and some settings it gained probing your hardware. if you did genkernel --config and let it go it should keep theose settings but it's kinda pointless.
