I am trying to ACPI to work on my Laptop but don't know where to start. I compiled it into the 2.6.0-test11 kernel I am using and I emerged acpi and acpid I add acpid to rc-update defaultand I tried to do that with acpi but it wouldn't work. So I don't know how to get the modules to load for my fan, thermal zone, and all the other goodies. I also have a ps/2 touchpad mouse with the side part that acts as a wheel and I can't figure out how to get that working either. I followed the desktop config and it said to add "option ZAxisMapping "4 5"" so I added that but it just works ass a regular mouse eith no wheel. Any help would be great. Thank you |

regarding the mouse wheel function:
Option "Protocol" "IMPS/2"
Option "Buttons" "5"
Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5"
these are the options I am including
for different wheel mice |

I think we're going to need more information. What kind of laptop, and what hardware is in it?
For the touchpad, what kind of touchpad is it (synaptics, something else). If it is a synaptics touchpad do a search on these forums. There are several other posts discussing how to get a synaptics touchpad setup correctly. |
