Installed vim today--usually, upon a fresh install, I install nvi as it doesn't look for X and saves me from the trouble of editing make.conf
So, now that X is up and running, I uninstalled nvi then installed vim. Found that typing vi gave me command not found. Did I screw something up when I uninstalled nvi? Seems to me that usually, on most distros the symlink is put in automatically upon install.
It was no big deal, just went into /usr/bin and did
ln -s vim vi
Just curious if this was my error or something that might be considered a bug?

Most people and other distributions just add to their .bash_profile, or /etc/profile for a global effect. _________________ - Kyle Manna

Ah, that's right, now that I think about it--well, I could have done it that way, but the symlink works just as well. I wonder if it's worthwhile for that to be built into the ebuild?
Thanks much
