Hi I want to try linux but can't seem to install without problems
my pc spec: p3 800,128 ram,20 g,dvdrom,cdrom,gf2mx,creative soundblaster vibra.
I use the 2 i386 live cds and used stage 3 for install. I followed exaclty what the installation guide on the net to install.
I downloaded ,compiled and installed the vanilla sources kernel, 2.4.22.
After install and reboot, the grub loaded alright, then during the modprobing part i get an error message:
modprobe: can't locate /etc/rtc
can't locate etc/misc/rtc something like that
I can login as root but then when i did emerge xfree i get an error at the
part where it tries to create dir fonts.it seems xfree didn't install properly.
Now i can't startx or login with a graphical interface.
any help would be greatly appreciated. ta |
