Hi there! How can I fix "/home/searhey/.local/share/Steam has both 'SteamApps' and 'steamapps' directories. This will cause problems. Please fix manually and only keep 'steamapps'" (message from Steam after start) without remove all my games?

Did you try to copy a windows steam install? That won't work, filenames are case-insensitive there and this directory probably won't be the only one causing problems. |

Lowercase 'steamapps' should work everywhere, and seems to be preferred at least for Proton [1].

If that's not possible it'll pop an error dialog asking the user to fix manually. This will also detect setups where both casings are present, which is bad.
Overall we feel that enforcing/pushing for the lowercase directory will be beneficial in the long run over maintaining support for both casings. |

Edit:
Somehow I missed this sort of already being the /case/ in the original post...
As for how to migrate, I don't imagine it should be more than simply moving everything from 'SteamApps' to 'steamapps' (do have backupses before you try!). If you have duplicate files in them, well, it will be for you to decide which ones to keep. :] _________________ Kindest of regardses. |

I'll leave it as it is for now. There are some games that caused me great difficulties in installing and configuring. After passing them I will do it as expected. |
