I have recently built three systems using gentoo...
gotta love it
The strange thing is that I had the same error building alsa 9.2 on the genkernel involving malloc.* .
my (simple) understanding is that this is for memory allocation in the kernel.
I recently read about this http://www.lemis.com/grog/SCO/code-comparison.html
whitch refers to an implementation of malloc in some obscure IA64 code proffered by SGI.
But my question is.... I can't find any malloc.* in my gentoo 2.4 code. alsa-driver fails to build?
Was any reference to malloc removed?
am I paranoid
is this whole SCO debacle the work of Microsoft or SUN Microsystems?
will batman and robin survive thier perilous ordeal................? _________________ there is no crazy, only violet and non violet.. |

The malloc code SCO referred to as being illegally copied in was apparently public domain, and in any case it has been removed (before SCO even mentioned it) because it was crap code.
If you want to follow the details of the SCO case I would suggest visiting Groklaw. There's no direct evidence of Microsoft involvement yet. I don't think Sun would be behind it because they are already basing part of their business on Linux.
Anyway, what's this about ALSA? You will need to provide a few more details before anyone can help you. |
