Every time I run emerge update, I never get anything. I've done an emerge rsync first and still dno't get anything:

gentoo[552]# emerge --pretend update

These are the packages that I would merge, in order.

Calculating dependencies !!! Couldn't find match for update; aborting.

What am I doing wrong?

actually with the newest version of portage (1.9.3 i believe) its okay to type emerge --pretend update world
