after updating to kernel-2.4.23 when i start xfree a black screen appears with the x mouse cursor (which i can move) a second later it jumps back saying "Using vt7 - waiting for X server to shut down"
no errors in the log
i reemerged xfree and all that stuff but nothing helped |

sounds like you missing something in the kernel configuration.

it's working
in a hidden gnome file was an errormessage about a missing file - emerged alsa-lib -> working *g* |
