Fresh install of gentoo on my laptop. gpm seems to install without incident, but doesn't work. Running Code: | /etc/init.d/gpm start | gives an "[ok]" message, but there's no mouse functionality and rc-status reports the service as "crashed". The only things out of the ordinary I can see mentioned in dmesg or /var/log/messages are some lines about "...can suport a better bus than the too old PS/2 protocol...", but I can't see any errors as-such. I haven't come across this problem before, and gpm always seemed to work on the same machine before. How should I go about fixing it?
For ref, machine is a Lenovo ThinkPad x240. Original "clickpad" module was swapped out for one with conventional physical buttons, worked fine on previous install. |
