I have an Acer TM662LCI Centrino Notebook and a Netgear WG54 Pcmcia Card.
I installed the card with the guidline of the ruslug forum.
The card seems to get detected as eth1 when i plug it in.
When I set up my ssid with setoid and dype dhcpcd eth1, my network can be seen (that it has 11 Mb connection) to the router.
But the browser lynx doesn't show any web-pages. It reports: hostname not found. Also I'm not able to ping at any server I know.
What's wrong? can you help me?
(Yes I've copied net.eth0 to net.eth1 and I've set in the conf.d/net iface_eth1="dhcp" dhcpcd eth1. Also i installed the necessary modules in the autoload and modified eth1 that it need's pcmcia) |

Do you do /etc/init.d/net.eth1 start after plugging it in? What is the output of ifconfig eth1? Does dmesg show you anything strange? Any jiffies messages? |

This error went away.
But now I downloaded Kernel dev-sources 2.6 beta11.
The following happens:
some strange messages appear when plugging the card in and when having it in the slot during boot or when I plug the card off I get kernel panics.
When adding or deleting my network script eth1 it reports:
Cannot open prism traps netlink socket. Protocol not supported
Cannot open prism traps netlink socket. Protocol not supported
could not close prismoid netlink socket: Bad file descriptor
The card worked with kernel 2.4 and the same network scripts. The kernel 2.6 was confugured as written in your readme. |
