If I SSH into my box how can I "see" what's live on the terminal 1 screen? In other words if I start and emerge go to work, SSH in how can I see if it is still running or done? _________________ \\eir]>ave

use a program called screen. Just emerge screen.
It is super useful and awesome and everyone should have it. But sorry, instead of teach it to you, I'm going to link you so you can RTFM
http://www.guckes.net/screen/
If I remember correctly the following will do what you want
At home type "screen" in the terminal
Then start emerge
Go to work
ssh into your box
type "screen -x"
I highly reccomend you learn screen though, it is super useful. |
