So I do my usual emerge -u world. I notice that alsa-driver-0.9.8 happened to be in there. So I let it go. Oh, was that a bad idea.
Code:
1: linux/modversions.h: No such file or directory
make[3]: *** [fastdep] Error 1
make[3]: Leaving directory `/var/tmp/portage/alsa-driver-0.9.8/work/alsa-driver-
0.9.8/acore/oss'
make[2]: *** [_sfdep_oss] Error 2
make[2]: Leaving directory `/var/tmp/portage/alsa-driver-0.9.8/work/alsa-driver-
0.9.8/acore'
make[1]: *** [dep] Error 1
make[1]: Leaving directory `/var/tmp/portage/alsa-driver-0.9.8/work/alsa-driver-
0.9.8'
make: *** [include/sndversions.h] Error 2

!!! ERROR: media-sound/alsa-driver-0.9.8 failed.
!!! Function src_compile, Line 63, Exitcode 2
!!! Parallel Make Failed

Now, that's not so bad. If it weren't for the fact that my existing alsa doesn't work anymore. How do I fix it? I have no sound. My emu10k1 SBLive! Value was working fine before.

oh crap, you're right, that must be it, thanks! I just recompiled into a 2.6 kernel instead of a 2.4, so I probably forgot to include stuff in there. Time to fixo.
