Does anybody have experience with a USB device that converts a TV signal to USB and vice-versa? The idea is to have movies/dvds on the main computer and play them through the network to an old laptop through the USB device to the TV. So output through the USB is more important, but input would also be nice. Oh, and it has to be USB because that how I'll interface it to the laptop.

you can have a look at the usbvision project on sourceforge. they might be able to recommend something that works under linux
i haven't had much luck with my pixelview usb tv tuner, but that is because of something weird with my laptop's usb port. maybe you'll have better luck.
otherwise, it might be better to go for some usb2 devices if your computer supports it |
