pam_tally2 replacement command?

Does the new and improved version of PAM have a command with comparable functionality as pam_tally2?

Specifically the ability to display a user's number of failed login attempts and the ability to reset lockouts? Or was eliminating that feature part of the "improvement"?

/sbin/faillock appears that it might be comparable, however the default configuration doesn't appear to behave in the same manner.
